TECO Peoples Gas
CEM’s Turnkey/Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) division successfully carried out this endeavor, encompassing the full spectrum of EPC execution.
TECO Peoples Gas, Florida’s foremost natural gas distribution utility, has established one of the most extensive dairy biogas to RNG initiatives in the state. This project is designed to capture waste from around 6,500 cows, yielding 600 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) of biogas. This biogas will subsequently undergo conversion into high-quality renewable natural gas (RNG).
The outcome of this undertaking is the production of 105,000 MMBtu of RNG annually, which will be sufficient to supply approximately 4,400 homes. Notably, the project relies on cutting-edge membrane separation technology to recover over 99.6% of the methane content from the biogas. This advanced system includes upstream biogas conditioning and a hydrogen sulfide removal mechanism. An added advantage of this initiative is that it will directly inject pipeline-quality RNG into the Florida Gas Transmission (FGT) system, obviating the need for virtual pipeline transportation infrastructure.
